World Language

Roseville Area High School has an outstanding World Language program. You may begin or continue the study of world languages at Roseville Area High School, with the following languages offered in all grades:

  • Spanish
  • French

Those of you planning to attend a college or university can often satisfy your college admission and/or graduation requirements by taking world language courses during high school. All world language courses are electives.

If you have successfully completed Level 1 French or Spanish in eighth grade, you should register for French 2 or Spanish 2. Speak with your current World Language teacher for placement advice. Current students in our Dual Language Immersion Program also can continue their course of study at RAHS. Continuing to study world languages is beneficial to the brain, for career opportunities and for anyone considering a college or university.

The Minnesota Department of Education provides the opportunity for bilingual and multilingual students to earn college credits by way of a Minnesota Multilingual Seal Program(link is external) Test. This recognition of your language proficiency can be included on your transcript when you graduate. This seal also provides the student up to 4 semesters of college credit for Minnesota Colleges and Universities. We encourage all students to take this test in their last year of World Language study or in their senior year of high school.
